On the following February 21st, 2023 we celebrate Pancake Tuesday in Ireland, one of the sweetest days of the year. In the old days, before the start of Lent, households would use the ingredients left in the fridge to make pancakes and amazing toppings. The tradition kept for decades but is not so associated with religions nowadays. Each year on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, people all over the country eat pancakes, and you should not be left out! Here’s a list of where to get the best pancakes in Dublin on a weekday:

Opened daily on South William Street, the Metro Cafe serves delicious homemade pancakes for breakfast and brunch. Clients can choose between adding Nuttela, Berry Compote, or Bacon to the buttermilk pancakes already topped with honey butter and maple syrup.

This argentine owned cafe on the south side of Dublin has good options for all brunch lovers, but one of the best items on their menu is undoubtedly the Dulce de Leche Pancakes. Topped with brandy & orange mascarpone, seasonal fruits, and toasted almost nuts, these buttermilk pancakes are like nothing you have tried before! Alma is open every day and clients can book a table in advance or try a walk-in spot, they also offer takeaway and delivery.

South Bank Cafe 

 

This charming neighborhood cafe is a great option if you are looking to get pancakes next Tuesday. Located in the Dublin 6 area, South Banck Cafe offers a stack of pancakes with two different choices of toppings - bacon & maple syrup with honkey pokey butter, or sweet seasonal fruits with brownie crumb & honeycomb. They are open daily for brunch & lunch, from 8 am.
