Garden Lane Backpackers is approximately 40 minutes by bus from Dublin Airport Terminal 2, served by Dublin Express 784 stopping at Merchant's Quay (stop 1444), just a short walk from the hostel. Tickets cost around €8 one-way, payable via app or onboard (Leap Card not accepted). Search Google Maps for "D08 VY00" upon arrival.
Gardiner House Hostel provides a secure luggage storage room for an additional fee, where you can store your bags before check-in or after check-out (availability at reception). Additionally, each bed comes with its own individual locker requiring a padlock (small size). If you don’t have one, we sell them at reception to keep your belongings safe.
All guests enjoy fresh linen and a made bed on arrival. Towels are included for private rooms only; dorm guests can rent towels at reception.
Private parking is available but must be reserved ahead of time (limited availability). Payment is due at check-in and can be made by card or cash.

The minimum age is 18. Guests aged 8-17 are accepted only when accompanied by an adult in a private room and are not permitted in shared dorms with others. No children under 8 are accepted.
Check-in starts from 3 PM, with early check-in possible for a fee and subject to availability. Reception is open 24 hours in the Gardiner House Hostel, allowing late arrivals. While Garden Lane Backpackers reception closes during the night, please make sure to get in touch with reception to organise a self-check-in access. Check-out is by 11 AM, but you may remain in the common areas until 3 PM. Late check-out incurs an automatic €20 surcharge per person.
For bookings made directly through our website, you can cancel or modify your reservation using the confirmation email received at booking. Cancellations or changes must be made at least 2 days before your check-in date to be eligible for a refund. If you cancel less than 2 days before check-in or if you do not show up, no refund will be issued. Non-refundable rates cannot be refunded.
For bookings made through third-party platforms (such as Booking.com, Hostelworld, etc.), all cancellations and modifications must be handled directly via those channels according to their policies. We strongly recommend reviewing the cancellation terms before booking to avoid disappointment. If you experience any issues or have further questions, please contact our front desk for assistance.
A credit/debit card detail is required for the security deposit (no payment is taken in advance), in case no card is provided, a transaction of €30 per person (€50 for walk-ins) will be taken in your card. Groups of 4+ must pay the group security deposit in one transaction only. Security deposits are refunded at check-out if there’s no damage.
Yes, Gardiner House has a spacious, fully equipped kitchen for guest use, open daily except during cleaning times with gas off at night — oven and microwave remain accessible. The laundry room operates from 7 AM to 9 PM, with washing and drying tokens sold at reception alongside washing tablets.
Yes, you can borrow hairdryers and irons free of charge from reception by leaving a valid ID as a deposit. We also sell travel adaptors suitable for Irish sockets to help keep your devices powered during your stay. Additionally, you’ll find padlocks, toiletries, earplugs and other essential travel accessories available for purchase at reception, ensuring you have everything you need without having to bring it all with you.
Yes, there’s a designated smoking area. Smoking or vaping inside the building is strictly prohibited and subject to a €250 fine.
