Where to drink with the locals in Dublin

The traditional Irish pubs are the best place to go when visiting Dublin if you want to have some craic with the locals. Luckily, the city is filled with so many options of nice bars and it won't take you too long to find a proper spot to hang out and make some friends. Despite being one of the most famous places in the city, the Temple Bar is mostly known by tourists and charges a bit more for pints than other local pubs.

To help you find the perfect place to drink with the locals in Dublin here’s a list of the best Irish Pubs in Dublin to drink with the lads and a few of them are Irish Pubs in Dublin City Centre: 

 

 

1. The Cobblestone

A great place to start exploring Dublin’s best pubs is the famous Cobblestone, frequented by locals and tourists, but awesome if you want to get in contact with the real Irish Culture. Located in one of Dublin’s oldest neighborhoods, Smithfield, this cozy bar is famous for its always fresh pints and live Irish music being played every night, the atmosphere is amazing and you will for sure have the chats with many locals enjoying it as well.

2. Devitts

This is THE pub to visit in Dublin on a nice sunny day since Devitts is famous for its outside tables and its traditional decorations on the inside. The pub is located on the famous Camden Street, just six minutes walking from St Stephen’s Green, with many other bars and restaurants around, it’s a good choice if you are looking for somewhere around that area to have a creamy pint of Guinness with the locals. They also offer a full menu with freshly prepared local ingredients, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.

3. Wheelan’s

This is not only a very popular pub among the locals but also one of the eldest and more traditional music venues in Dublin. Wheelan’s has been around since 1989 and has been the stage for many special guests, such as  Arctic Monkeysm, Arcade Fire and Ed Sheeran. This bar is perfect for a night out during your time in the city, you can check their website to see what’s upcoming and plan ahead of your trip.

4. The Stag's Head

The beautiful Dame Lane is a must-visit anytime you are in Dublin, there you will find an amazing atmosphere and some of the most unique pubs in the city. It’s the perfect place to go if you want to drink with Dubliners and see what the craic is all about. Start by grabbing a pint from The Stag’s Head, dating from centuries ago but still one of the coolest pubs to go to when visiting Ireland, the place also has free stand-up comedy happening every Monday and Sunday, doors open at 8:15 pm, and the show starts at 9:00 pm.

5. Grogan’s Castle Lounge

If you are around Dublin’s city center, a great place to go for drinks and meet some locals is Gorgan’s Castle Lounge pub, a well-established bar, and restaurant with nice outdoor seats and many beverages options to choose from. On a sunny day, nothing can beat enjoying a fresh pint and watching the buzz of the city from one of Grogan’s tables, the bar also offers ham and cheese toasties for a friendly price, perfect to keep you going for the day.

6. Walsh’s

Walsh’s is a local’s favorite in Stoneybatter, one of the coolest neighborhoods in Dublin. Despite all their options on the tap, the bar also serves top-shelf whiskeys with better prices than others around that area. The pub has a very traditional look, with a big wooden counter, many stools and tables, and TVs broadcasting any match that is on at the time, which attracts many Dubliners every day.

7. Searsons

Established in 1845 this pub has become part of Dublin’s history and has a special place in the Dubliner's hearts. Searson's is located on the south side of the city and has more than 150 options of whiskey to choose from, as well as many options of beer on the tap. If you feel like eating, the bar also has a full menu with freshly made ingredients and the original Irish cuisine.

8. P.Mac’s

This is the best place to be on the weekend if you are looking to meet some locals during your time in Dublin, P.Mac’s is a favorite for many Dubliners in the city, and a pub with a lot of character and an amazing atmosphere. ON the bar P.Mac’s serves local and international brews, all directly from the tap.  The space is decorated with wooden tables around the room, and loads of candles to create an even more unique vibe.
